Critical safety note: Boots without ISO 9523 or WTR certification will not achieve proper retention values in the alpine toe piece, regardless of Mondo size matching.

Mondo sizing refers to interior shell length measured in millimeters. A 26.5 Mondo boot = 265mm internal length.
What the Binding Sees
The Shift 2 binding adjusts to boot sole length (BSL), not internal Mondo size. BSL varies by manufacturer even within the same Mondo size.

Ignore the Mondo number. Place boot flat and measure center-to-center from toe lug to heel lug contact points. Use calipers if BSL is near a binding size threshold.
Step 3: Select Binding Size
Match measured BSL to binding range with 10mm buffer on each end. A 318mm boot belongs in Medium (305–355mm), not Small.
Step 4: Toe Height Calibration
With binding in alpine mode:
- Insert boot and lock heel piece
- Check toe contact: Should engage without forcing or gaps
- If clearance exists, adjust toe height using 4mm hex key
- Retest retention by stepping in/out 5 times

Pure tech boots (e.g., Dynafit TLT series without WTR soles) lack the toe geometry for Shift's alpine plate. The binding will accept the boot in pin mode but cannot guarantee release values in alpine mode.
